If asked, Linda M. Smith would claim that the recording of her recent album was very
subdued, with everybody down to business. There were, however, some
very inspiring and wonderful moments listening during the process of laying
this record down. "I remember everyone was really stirred up the first time we
all heard the sitar live in the studio", recalls the record's Co-Producer, Robert Arendt.
The album was recorded, mixed and pressed at Acme Recording Studios in Chicago during 1997.
The Session Engineer was Paul Smith and the recording was mastered by Danny Leake
for Urban Guerrilla Engineers
Linda wishes to thank these wonderful professionals and the others (Fran, Cam, John,
and Mark) at Acme who helped make this album such a success.
It was a fairly standard recording process which followed a progression used before
by Linda. The rythym tracks were layed down first - drums, acoustic guitar and
bass. Then keys were dubbed over, lead guitars and finally all vocal tracks. The goal was
to get it down", says Linda, noting that "it is a raw album emotionally, and we wanted to
capture some of that in the recording style".
The album was produced by Robert Arendt and Linda M. Smith.
Cover photo and hand tinting by Ana Riback. Art direction and graphic design
for the CD was overseen by Kathryn Kowalchik.
