Linda M. Smith is a natural singer-songwriter with a diverse and rich personal background. Her life has always led to music, and to expressing the breadth of that experience.

As a young adult, Linda was facinated with music and the great female performers of the mid-to-late 70's. By the early eighties, she had begun performing popular songs by her favorite female artists such as, Carly Simon and Carole King. Starting on piano, which she had learned growing up, she emulated the styles of her heroes and began a musical journey of self discovery.

In her early twenties Linda began crafting her own songs and performing in small coffee houses and bars. The early performance experiences exhilerated the burgeoning artist and definitely inspired her to carry on with her calling. In fact, she claims these original sensations return to her whenever she plays a smaller more intimate venue, and that the connection she makes with people in these settings still drive much of the passion behind her music.

It was also at this time that she first picked up the guitar and began experimenting with her voice, developing it into the unique vocal style we hear today.

Linda has just finished her most recent release of songs entitled "LINDA M. SMITH". The CD contains songs written and peformed by Linda M. Smith over the last ten years and features the guitar work of master guitarists Michael Smith and Fareed Haque and accompaniment by master sitar player Patric Marks.

Linda continues to live in Chicago with Producer/Husband, Robert Arendt and her son Stephen. She is busy performing with a new band all over the United States and is currently in rehersals for a new album to be recorded in 1999.
